Back Russia will assist in mine clearance of Laos
In order to implement a decision made by the President of the Russian Federation a demining unit of the Russian Armed Forces’ International Anti-Mine Center is deployed to Laos to assist in mine clearing the country’s territory.
The mission will last five months – from October 2018 to March 2019. Besides, Russian military engineers will train Lao sappers and supply them with equipment to search for explosives and personal protection equipment.
Amid the mission, a subdivision of the International Anti-Mine Center will be established in Laos.
During the Second Indochina war, Americans dropped on Laos 270 million bombies, about a third of which have never exploded.
